My greatest regret is that I never slayed
the night with you.
My greatest regret is I never killed
the bottles with you.
My greatest regret is we never slept
a night through,
at ease,
in comfort,
tail to tail.
My greatest regret is I drew the shades
closed.
My greatest regret is I could never kiss you
with my eyes closed.
Now my tears are blood,
my blood is ice,
my ice is melting
into slush.
And we were us,
but I am me
and that
has to be
enough.
My greatest regret is I never slayed
the night with you.
We were already conquered
by the day.
